Abstract

Digital communication helps schools reach their communities quickly, but also exposes them to false and misleading information. This article examines the transformation of school public relations into a coordinator of verification, crisis communication, and digital-literacy education. An integrative literature review connects selected books, journal articles, and government documents published within the past ten years. The synthesis proposes five strategies: strengthening critical information literacy, establishing reporting and verification procedures, providing proportionate clarifications, managing accessible and secure official channels, and involving teachers, parents, and students in preventive education. A response cycle comprising preparation, detection, verification, clarification, and evaluation is proposed as an institutional framework. It prioritises factual accuracy, acknowledgement of uncertainty, protection of children’s data, and openness to legitimate criticism. Without field data, this article cannot establish the framework’s effectiveness in reducing misinformation or improving public trust. Further research should examine its implementation, resource requirements, and outcomes across different school contexts
