Abstract

Project-Based Learning (PBL) has become one of the effective pedagogical approaches in enhancing student engagement and understanding. With technological advancements, PBL can now be implemented online, providing greater flexibility and accessibility. This article discusses various online PBL models that have been applied in different educational institutions, as well as the benefits and challenges faced. Online PBL models allow students to work collaboratively on projects relevant to the real world, even when located in different places. Some of the models discussed include PBL based on Learning Management System (LMS) platforms, PBL with social media integration, and PBL using online collaboration tools such as Google Workspace and Microsoft Teams. Each model has unique characteristics that can be tailored to the needs and context of learning. The main benefits of online PBL include enhanced collaborative skills, critical thinking abilities, and technological skills. Additionally, online PBL allows for personalized learning, where students can learn at their own pace and style. However, challenges include limited access to technology, lack of face-to-face interaction, and difficulties in effectively measuring student performance. This article is expected to provide recommendations for more effective implementation, including teacher training, technology infrastructure development, and curriculum adjustments that support project-based learning.
