Solutions to COVID-19 Challenges in Nigeria: Implications for Counselling
Abstract
The afflictions from the COVID-19 pandemic are numerous, devastating, and a blight of hope. Humans’ desire to exist on Earth is to live long, prosper, survive, and be fulfilled, but COVID-19 respects no age, gender, ethnic group, or educational qualification. The purpose of this study was to examine solutions to the COVID-19 squabble and its implications for counselling. An integrative review technique was employed to review literature from reliable databases, providing genuine information relevant to the study. As of 27th December 2021, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases globally was 279,114,972, with 5,397,580 deaths. The results indicated that urgent solutions were needed to address various crises, including coronaphobia, inadequate ICT deployment, recession, agoraphobia, insecurity, drug menace, food insecurity, health concerns, and unemployment squabbles caused by the pandemic. This study suggests methods to mitigate the extensive problems created by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly emphasizing the need for well-funded professional counsellors to actively help resolve COVID-19-induced squabbles. This research highlights the importance of not only defeating COVID-19 variants but also addressing the wide range of ongoing issues caused by the pandemic that continue to negatively impact the global community.
